What your poo says about you!

It may make you a bit squeamish, but to a naturopath, your bowel movements can reveal a whole lot of information about your health!

If you’re not used to looking, now is the perfect time to start. Make sure you pay attention to the 4F’s.

What does poo actually looks like?

What colour is it?

Is this different to what it used to be?

Is you poo hard to pass?

Is there any associated pain, bloating or cramping?

Do you feel relieved after going or do you need to keep going back?

How many times a day/a week do you go?

Has this changed after a bout of sickness or course of antibiotics?

Do certain foods affect this?

Do you notice any blood, undigested food, mucus?

How often does this happen?

Is there pain associated with this?

Every person is different and you may even notice that for you, your bowel movements change reguarly. Keeping track of this can help your naturopath get a more thorough understand of how to best treat your case. The Bristol Stool chart has been developed by K. W. Heaton and S. J. Lewis from the University of Bristol to help us classify your bowel movements more easily.
